Philly “Walkabout”

On Saturday, June 12th, we will go on a “walkabout” in the city to meet some of the homeless population of center city Philadelphia. We will be starting at the Liberty Bell, which is at Fifth and Market, and working our way through Center City up to the Art Museum steps. We will be meeting with homeless men and women and seeing where they eat and sleep. We will also be seeing where they wash up, where they go during the daytime, etc. We will basically be getting a first hand look at how they make it through the day.

If you would like to join us, we will be meeting at 9:45 AM at the Albanian Orthodox Church of Saint John Chrysostom, where there is limited free parking. We will then make our way down the JFK parkway to The Love Park, to meet up with those of you who would like to take the train into Suburban Station. Open toed shoes or skirts are not recommended because some of the places we will be climbing into. If possible bring a camera, however please don’t take pictures of people without their permission. It would also be very much appreciated if you could bring a backpack or some kind of bag to carry care packs for the homeless. Please let us know if you’re running late so that we know to wait for you.

Call before Saturday to get cellphone numbers.
